Dept of Science & Innovation: National Youth Service Programme 2020 / 2021

Department of Science and Innovation invites unemployed graduates between 18-35 years of age are invited to apply for National Youth Service Programme 2020/21.

Internship Application closing date: 18 September 2020

Internship Location: Pretoria, Gauteng

A total of 550 places are available, mainly for science, technology, engineering and mathematics graduates.

The programme, which is part of the government-wide National Youth Service initiative, places selected volunteers at various institutions (e.g. schools, universities, science councils and NGOs) across the country, allowing them to gain workplace experience for 12 months while offering a service to the community.

Participating volunteers will be paid monthly stipends at the following scale:

  • NQF Level 6 National diploma R4 500
  • NQF Level 7 Bachelor’s degree/BTech R5 000
  • NQF Level 8 Honours degree R5 500
  • NQF Level 9 Master’s degree R6 500
  • NQF Level 10 PhD R7 700

Volunteers are responsible for their own travel and relocation costs.

To apply, submit your CV with contactable references, certified copies of your ID and qualifications, and a letter setting out why you want to participate in the programme, which province you live in, and the province and institution you hope to be deployed to.
