Steve Tshwete Local Municipality is welcoming applications from South African students for the Bursary Programme for the academic year 2024.

This bursary program covers a wide range of fields, including:

  • Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mining Engineering)

  • Financial Management/Accounting and Internal Auditing
  • ICT
  • Legal Studies
  • Media Studies
  • National Certificate-Vocational Education

Expenses Covered and Renewal:

The Steve Tshwete Local Municipality Bursary will provide financial assistance to cover various expenses such as tuition fees, accommodation and meal allowances, learning material fees, and a monthly allowance (subject to budget availability). It’s important to note that the municipality does not guarantee a fully funded bursary award, and funding will be allocated based on the budget and in accordance with the bursary agreement. The bursary is awarded annually in line with the academic curriculum, the chosen field of study, and the costs stipulated by the tertiary institution.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be considered for this bursary program, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • South African citizenship
  • Age between 18 and 35 years old
  • Residency within the Steve Tshwete Local Municipality
  • Matriculation or completion of Matric
  • Pursuing or intending to pursue an undergraduate qualification in one of the specified fields
  • Admission into a South African public tertiary institution (University or TVET College)
  • Combined gross household income not exceeding R350,000 per annum
  • Not in receipt of any other bursary funding or loan
  • Students with disabilities and those from previously disadvantaged groups are encouraged to apply
