The bursary programme is part of Harmony’s commitment to education and skills development in the mining and engineering fields.
Fields of Study Covered
The Harmony bursary will be awarded for studies in the following fields:
- Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mining Engineering
- Geology
- Survey and Planning
- Extractive Metallurgy
- Other mining-related disciplines
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- South African citizen
- Preferably from communities near Harmony’s operations
- Meet the following academic requirements:
For Engineering Studies:
- Mathematics: Level 5 (60%) or higher
- Physical Science: Level 5 (60%) or higher
- English: Level 5 (60%) or higher
Additional Requirements:
- If in Grade 12, submit Grade 11 final results and current Grade 12 results.
- If already at a tertiary institution, submit full academic transcripts.
- TVET and private college studies are not covered.

- Certified copy of ID document
- Certified proof of results (Grade 11 & 12 / tertiary transcripts)
- Curriculum Vitae (max 3 pages)
- Proof of address
- Registration or acceptance letter from an accredited institution
