About the Samancor Chrome Bursary Programme
The Samancor Chrome Bursary Programme aims to support promising students pursuing qualifications relevant to South Africa’s mining and minerals industry.
Applications are open to students who will be entering their first, second or third year of undergraduate study in 2027.
Applicants must be studying, or have provisional acceptance to study, at a recognised university in South Africa.
Fields of Study
Bursaries are available for undergraduate studies in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering, including Electronic Engineering
- Geology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering
- Mine Surveying
- Mining Engineering
Students interested in one of these fields are encouraged to check that they meet all eligibility requirements before submitting an application.
Samancor Chrome Bursary Requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be currently in Matric or have already completed Matric.
- Be studying or intending to study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the approved fields.
- Be entering the first, second or third year of study in 2027.
- Be studying at, or have provisional acceptance from, a recognised university in South Africa.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements may not be considered for the bursary.
Documents Required
Applicants must submit clear copies of the required supporting documents with their online application.
These include:
- Certified copy of ID document.
- Grade 10 academic results.
- Grade 11 academic results.
- Matric academic results.
- Matric certificate, if Matric has already been completed.
- Latest academic results and full academic record for applicants currently studying at university.
- Academic records must be issued on the institution’s letterhead.
- Proof of provisional university acceptance, where applicable.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Applicants should ensure that all compulsory documents are uploaded, as applications with missing documentation may be disqualified.
