The South African Department of Transport invites suitably qualified graduates to apply for its Graduate Internship Programme 2027–2029. The programme offers numerous 24-month internship opportunities across administration, finance, information technology, human resources, transport, engineering, planning and other fields.

Public Transport and Town Planning Internships – X18 Posts

The Department is also recruiting 18 interns across nine provincial Public Transport/Town Planning opportunities. Each provincial intake has two posts.

Opportunities are available for Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Gauteng, Western Cape, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, North West, Free State and KwaZulu-Natal.

Applicants for these opportunities require a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in fields such as:

  • Town and Regional Planning
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications

Who Should Apply?

Applicants must have satisfied the academic requirements for the internship discipline for which they are applying.

Candidates who previously participated in an internship programme will be disqualified. The Department also states that appointments are subject to verification of qualifications, previous experience, citizenship, references and security vetting.

Applicants applying for more than one field must submit a separate Z83 application for each field.
